I'm slowly beginning to OTP Hibari/Tsuna though, I've noticed, don't know why.^^ Not that I don't appreciate other pairings of course! I'm still searching for some nice Squalo/Yamamoto or even Belphegor/Gokudera (yeah, I've got strange tastes, even in this fandom!).
I'm just dying to know more about Hibari and his family, but I think you got it precisely right; he knows exactly how the world is supposed to behave, and just is fed up with all the stupid people who Do Not Get It.
Actually, I think that's the main draw of the Hibari/Tsuna pairing - he's the only one to both surprise Hibari and prove him wrong in a way that has him change (if just a little bit).
That's one part that I also love about this fic; the line where he breaks his promise. Just brilliant.
